Tauranga Laughter sessions

Calling all laughers! Calling all would-be laughers!

Tauranga Laughter Club - we meet to laugh - through Laughter Yoga. That is a simple yet powerful form of exercise which combines laughter exercises with yogic breathing (no prior yogic skills required, no extreme physical flexibility required!).  Laughter has a deep effect on our mental and physical being and Laughter Yoga is the only technique which uses unconditional laughter to help make a positive frame of mind a choice, not a chance happening.  Laughter Club can help boost natural ‘happy’ endorphins through unconditional laughter (i.e. not relying on jokes). Even if you can only manage 'sometimes', take the time for Laughter Club.

A poem for Laughers everywhere:

 ILLYPILLYWACKER

I had lost my urge to mingle

Could not trumbumpify.

I consulted with a doctor

Whom I asked to clarify.

I detailed all my symptoms,

How my eckledap was down;

How my gloobilicious murgle

Has upped and gone to town.

He let me yarn and yaffle on

Fogsnuffling my ills.

Then he proffered noisome potions

And dyneurotic pills.

I slumped. I was slumfoozled,

As he smartly phoned a mate

Who cost me many buckaroos

To specify my fate.

“I think it’s jillywongo

That has got you in its grip.

The prognosis is uncertain:

Here’s a tried and tested tip.

“Eat a dish of eels and treacle

Before your nightly slumber,

Besprinkle it with huhu grubs

Of invigorating number.”

Now I knew I’d been hornswoggled!

No smooquack could I trust.

My dreams of hale existence

Had scrumbled into dust.

I fled pursued by demons

Of disorder, doubt and dread.

For weeks I was pronacious

And would not desert my bed.

Then I roused myself to Google

A full catalogue of woes

And found a healthy repetif

That got me on my toes.

Now I’m bold and I’m bodacious

I go swimming twice a week.

I consume whatever suits me

And I giggle, garp and geek.

Momently now I’m plumptious

With an urge to prink and pringle.

From top to toe expungling

A fine and healthy tingle.

I’ve taken up the occult arts

And Laughter Yoga, too.

And I say one thing to doctors:

“Boo and double bah to you.”

THE WORD WIZARD 2012

When you don't feel like laughing - watch this!

Dr Madan Kataria, founder of Laughter Yoga, shows that we all have days when we don't feel laughy, but he practices what he preaches.
